Abolishing the Electoral College is a horrible idea.

I apologize for losing my patience and making a comment like “I’m not going to waste my time on you.” You were engaging me with a good conversation, although we don’t agree. You’re not a waste of time, you believe very strongly in your position and I respect that. Again, we don’t agree but we should be able to have a civil discourse and I own the fact I shut that down. So no, I don’t agree with the popular vote, yet I do understand that’s how state elections work. I don’t think we should change the state or federal election process, although maybe we can find common ground and agree it’s flawed.

I don’t believe that all Democrats are flawed or “nuts” I have many close friends that have different perspectives than I do. My life time mentor is a conservative, church going Christian that is gay. I went to his wedding, at a Christian church and was proud this can happen in America. This does not make me special, I only share this so you might have some insight to my character.

Sadly there were members of the church that left because their wedding was held there. And recent events like the camp counselor that was fired from a Christian summer camp conflict me. (Because he is gay) I don’t think anyone should be judged because they fall in love with someone of the same sex. Yet this goes against Christian values. I am not a religious person, I don’t think we should tell/legislate how anyone should feel. I also believe that freedom of religion is important. That said we have many shared friends, several of whom are registered Democrats.

I do not support abortion as a form of birth control, but also see this as a woman’s right. I personally detest abortion but it’s not my place to tell someone if they should/should not have an abortion. (My conservative friends don’t particularly like my stance here!) again, I feel we are not placed here to judge each other.

I am a conservative, I own guns, I don’t like taxes, think many social injustices are skewed and I do not want government assistance. I feel strongly the Democratic Party represses minorities and fails to do anything to actually uplift the disenfranchised. Recall the Democratic Party was the driving force behind segregation, Joe spoke about his ability to work with others. Obama delivered a eulogy for a segregationist senator and Hilary deemed him as her mentor, he was also a member of the KKK. And lastly the KKK was founded by the Democratic Party.

The current state of the Democratic Party is leaning so far away from the general populous it’s unraveling itself. Hence the reason Trump is our president. The party is convoluted with socialists that want to base arguments on emotion vs. fact. Even some of my liberal friends are challenged to find a candidate they support this election cycle. I just laugh and say welcome to my 2016!

And lastly AOC... she pushes any conservative further away. AOC, Nancy and Chuck are so out of touch, not only with conservatives but the true democratic base.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?
