I added a 5th step to "the male guide to washing up"

Vent post incoming haha

Me, as well. My girlfriend and a friend of mine stay with me when they're off uni. My house deteriorates immensely within a matter of weeks, and now matter how many reminders or discussions we have, it ends with "Yeah, I'll clean up" or "You make a mess too!" (Though I will say my girlfriend has stopped saying that one to me now that I'm extra vigilant about cleaning before I go to work. That does, however, add the frustration of working all day, waking on the weekend to cook breakfast and having no dishes to do so. Because they're home all day.)

Then they leave and I'm finding mold in my coffee machine, dishes scattered throughout rooms and cutlery missing. Nevermind the rubbish, parcels, takeaway, general clutter and clothing. Hell, I had to pull a needle out of my food because one didn't clean up their needlefelting kit appropriately.

I've had enough and I'm seriously considering saying to them both that they can take their things and stay elsewhere in the holidays. I've decided to give them one chance first.

It's a shame, really. They're both lovely people and I enjoy their time and company but can't fathom what's stopping them from cleaning. I'm sure they respect me and enjoy my time but it's hard to reconcile that with the mess made afterwards.
