So after 3 viewings of TLJ I have come to a conclusion

Forgive me- I don’t think the film was fun at all. It had realism dripping off of it, and it was very depressing. Starts with Poe making a bad judgment that gets hundreds of people killed. Ackbar dies offscreen. Luke is miserable, wants to die, is depressed and has given up. Han’s gone, we find out Luke almost slaughtered his own nephew causing Kylo Ren to rise. More and more characters bite the dust.

Many viewers are saying Laura Dern’s character was unnecessary. I didn’t mind her. I thought she was a spy. But then she dies. Luke reunites with R2, it’s sad. Luke re-unites with Leia, it’s sad. Luke dies, sad. The slaves being beaten at the casino, that’s depressing to see.

People are so used to seeing real life shoved in their faces through social media, and now RJ has added the same hopeless realism in this film. But viewers aren’t realizing they’re watching it. It’s just a political metaphor for the world today. And SW wasn’t that. It was a fantasy to enjoy. Sorry to disagree.
