AITA for asking my husband to replace my wedding ring?

Whelp whatever the case, it's too late now to get that ring:

He ruined it.

Getting that ring now will just remind you of these newer latest bad times, of what he did, and how he treated you when you were sick in the hospital, and how little he ponders and reflects upon your needs and what you're going through...

And just how much of a mind blowing narcissist he is!

So you may as well now just kiss that ring goodbye, sadly.

Of course, if he were to, completely on his own, suddenly surprise you with it, and genuinely realize the error of his ways, and genuinely begin the journey of changing, then the ring would become even more valuable to you, and truly symbolize a new beginning.

But don't hold your breath.

Narcissists simply won't think of doing things like that, at this later stage of a relationship.

They sure do it in the beginning though! But only because they're trying to capture your attention, and enmesh you into the misery of their life--for the main purpose so that ultimately they can "own you" and manipulate you, and simply spend a long period of time treating you like crap, which is something they are driven to do.

Just as a quick side note, I wanted to ask you:

Did he ever express strong irritation and annoyance with you for being sick, perhaps saying things like, "you're always sick!" ?

If so, maybe check out THIS rather interesting video on youtube, called:

5 Ways a Narcissist Treats You When You're Sick.

The host of that channel is someone who went through a really bad experience being married to a seriously malignant narcissist, so she has some very good insights into what that was like for her.

I mean you don't have to agree with everything she says, but her experience certainly gave her a perspective on what such a marriage can be like, that's for sure!

Another good source of info on youtube about living/working with malignant narcissists, and the nature of their mental disorder, is Dr. Todd Grande's CHANNEL.

If you scroll down the video list, you'll see tons of videos on the topic, as he really seems to specialize in the nature of that mental disorder.
