Everyone has pretty much said the gist of it, but I want to add anyway that if you’re allowing your child to be on the internet, you HAVE to make sure she understands the dangers of it. Facebook, YouTube, Roblox/online games, personal details, photographs, etc., everything. I think she will learn from this not to steal money, lie about it, and post it onto the internet, but more importantly she needs to learn how to safely be on an online platform in the first place. If your wife is correct that your daughter is this naive about matters like this, then you’re lucky you’ve only lost money. Your daughter needs to be better educated and informed before you let her back on for her own safety. It’s normal for her to be gullible at this age, be extra vigilant. You may want to also consider regulating her time on the computer- being on there between 3-6am is ridiculous for a 12 year old. If she’s waking up and going on it in the night, perhaps put a desktop user login password on so that she would need you to log on for her.
