A small, quick question to ask of anyone with a 1 year old (or has had a 1 year old!).

We do (and did at 1) a lot of counting and shapes. If something had multiples we'd count them. If we put away laundry we'd count how many total articles we had. If we blew bubbles we'd count as many as we could before they popped. She's 2.5 now and counts to 50 on her own, and she's starting to really get the pattern of counting beyond 20. And toward 1.5 she started recognizing times on a digital clock, not anything fancy, just that the first number says 1-that means nap time or says 6-that means dinnertime etc.

But I was a stay at home mom with little to no social interaction other than her until she was almost 2 so I literally just talked her through everything I was doing to keep myself from going crazy. And I count most things when I work with/use them anyway, so it just kinda worked for us.

I also threw in common shapes wherever I could. She still really only gets heart, star and circle though. I don't know why those three stick, maybe they're just her favorite shapes, but she points them out every chance she can.
