at my families parties everyone just used to go outside to smoke even if they usually smoked inside at the house we were at (at one point id say about 50% smoked including me for awhile) we even ended up with outdoor furniture that would get shuffled around the day before

one thing we did learn though is not to stop the kids from hanging around the ones smoking outside, they were far more interested and stuck around for longer when they werent allowed, just no one would light up a new one when they were there and it was easier to convince them they were missing something going on else where

not many smoke now so its easier to step away or go out and close the door so they dont notice
