Exactly this. Such a lack of empathy in this thread. OP is NTA if he holds them to it, but he could be the one thing that finally goes right for this lady. Unless this woman is an entitled, raging psychopath or something then this entire process mustve been an enormous wake up call/lesson for her. Its just easier from an outside perspective to be like "Fuck you! Stupid asshole hit a parked car! You deserve anything bad that comes your way!". Obviously it was not on purpose, obviously this person wishes they could take it back. If I was hitting rock bottom that hard Id be seriously considering suicide, my psyche is already fragile. If I was OP I would try and contact them to get their side of the story and possibly work out something else.
