The stigma is very real, especially amongst the medical community. There's also the stereotype of ADHD as a little boy who can't sit still, so us ADHD women get misdiagnosed and go untreated for years.

I'm especially glad I didn't tell him now though, because clearly he would have treated me badly as soon as he found out. Now I have to work out whether I am willing to spend time educating him out of his prejudice or whether I don't want to be around someone like that.

No he's not like that about any of the others, depression and anxiety are much more mainstream and less stigmatised than personality disorders.
