Am I being way too nice?

I think of my stream as it being a party at my house where everyone is invited and where I am sitting at a table and playing a game. Just like viewers, people are allowed to join in at the table whenever they please. Now, people do not know how I like to game unless they've seen me play/heard my rules before. People will come in and offer suggestions, ask to play, etc. This is normal. People are always wanting to help, even if you don't see it that way, and/or join in on the fun. It is up to myself to alert them of my rules and thoughts.

  • A simple "Just wanting to let everyone who is posting suggestions in the chat that I would like to learn the game on my own. If I can't figure out something and am in the need of a suggestion, I will ask for help from my viewers, but for now I am fine." and "I am also looking to do a solo/duo with my friends currently, BUT I will be doing follower games in the future and I can't wait to see how good you guys are!" can settle down a crowd in no time. You'll lose some people who are just looking to play right away with others but that is fine! These guys will only be around when they can play with you anyways.. When they can't, adios!

  • Also, if someone doesn't like that, it's fine. This is my party and I am attempting to entertain my guests while also having fun myself. If they are not complacent with the rules at hand, a simple reminder, timeout, or ban, depending on how rude they are being, is in order. Don't allow someone to ruin your fun, which makes the stream less enjoyable (you can really tell if someone is enjoying the game or not and it makes you not want to stay), or spoil the game for others who are looking to learn with you as this can all lead to far more leaving than just the one or two people looking to serve you suggestions till you beat the game their way.

You are trying to have fun while entertaining people at the same time. If it can become something that will make you not enjoy what you are doing, by all means, do not allow it to become a reality. It's easy to sense boredom or un-ease in the streamer and makes the viewer not want to watch. Suggestions, people asking to play, etc. are perfectly fine when you want that. When you don't, simply state so in the nicest way and move on.

Anyways, I've wrote enough. I wish you well with streaming. I've had my fair share of games where my viewer count went above 100 viewers due to it being a small and new game and it is crazy... Tried about 4 games which all ended up like that. I'm now close to 700 followers and 2 months in and I'm am still getting used to the immense chat/how to handle the rudeness of individuals/etc. that the stream brings. You'll get there with time.

P.S. With a quick sprout like this one, where loads of people come in and you gain followers by the dozen, don't expect this to always happen. Once this game dies, you might get lucky again to get this experience again, but it is rare. Just know that with time, you will grow. Also, followers don't mean too much. Just because you have 200 followers doesn't mean that 200 will come back. Out of those 200 you might have 10% that come back to check on the stream from time to time. Some might even come back always!

Don't be deterred; just keep on grinding :)
