The drug test does not check to see if I'm doing drugs while at work. And marijuana is not equal to stealing cars. That thought process is one that is left over from the Regan war on drugs and refer madness and to be quite frank not the kind of thought process I'd expect to encounter here in r/trees.

I'd like to remind you that this sub is designed for like minded people who believe that marijuana should be free for consumption and taxation in a similar method which alcohol is today... not necessarily for those who wish to remind us that laws based on racism and greed are in existence and we shouldn't mention that it is wrong. (as you are doing now)

I would argue that the constitution states that we are free to have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. By drug testing you, they are infringing your liberties and your pursuit of happiness. Smoking pot at home in no way affects another person's life, liberty or their pursuit of happiness... therefore what right do they have to vilify another human being for consuming it in their free time.

The argument that we should be able to be drug tested because we can just quit our jobs if we don't like it would indicate that those with more money have more liberty. Because they have money, they don't have to work or submit to searches in order to obtain gainful employment. In addition they are far far less likely to be convicted of any crimes in relation to marijuana. The poor are convicted at a rate that is shockingly higher than those that have money.

Liberty should be for ALL. Not just those that have money to avoid others that seek to violate their liberties. The sooner we as Americans recognize that the better.
