Why was this an article on Psychology Today??

They live in hellish conditions only to meet an early death & you call that protection?

Compared to their loving conditions and lifespan in the wild? Yes.

Unsheltered wilderness plagued by disease only to have their throat torn out or a farm?

I would honestly choose the farm were I in their position.

And then you say vegans support deforestation?! Do you understand what the leading cause of deforestation is? It's the beef industry.

Crops grown for domestic livestock make up the minority. Humans eat the majority. We grow more crops now for humans than we do for cattle.

It requires less land & fewer resources to grow crops for people than it takes to grow crops to feed to animals for people.

Technically. The amount of land needed to grow crops for humans is growing steadily each year. Do you really think we have the same amount of crops as we did 50 years ago? How many crops do you think humans will need in another 50 years?

Animal farming is farmore resource intensive than veganism: there is a lot more trucking & shipping going on in animal agriculture than plant agriculture.

Yes, but more plant agriculture means more trucking and shipping to transport the plants.

So, you would treat them the way omnivores do?!

Right now factory farmed domestic livestock live in conditions comparable to most third world nations. Omnivores already do treat humans that way. They just do not eat them when they kill them.

You'd want them bred

Arranged marriages still exist in many human cultures.

forcibly impregnated

From my understanding, any intercourse or impregnation of an animal that does not harm it is ethical. I suppose I could re-read Animal Liberation and try to find any contradictions to statements made more recently?

their teeth pulled out without anesthetics

I will pay to watch you anesthetize livestock. And not the small animals. I want to see you do it to Bison, since they seem relevant as of late.

raised death camps

Any hospital where euthanasia is legal can be classified as a 'death camp' depending on your outlook and which philosopher you are worshipping at the time.
