And yet I was able to find a clear cut example of a segregated prom happening in the 21st century in Mississippi. And look at this, there were still segregated proms last year in Georgia. In 2014, such blatant segregation is still a problem. 2014.
At least with the de facto segregationin housing (nationwide) can at least be partially blamed on economic disparities. Segregated proms is just straight up racism.

Funny because the South was very supportive of Democrats, who were for more spending and higher taxes, up until LBJ got the Civil Rights Act passed. Read into the Southern Strategy more and you'll understand why things changed.
Mississippi also has mandatory vaccinations for schools and consistently donates the second highest dollar per income to charity.
This has nothing to do with the racial history of Mississippi. I am aware that there are positives and negatives for each state. When it comes to the South though the negatives occur the most when it comes to race relations so seeing a bunch of Southerners bemoaning how they get called out for their weak points is silly.
