Anti-vaccination campaigners blamed for measles outbreak in Melbourne suburb of Brunswick in Australia

Certainly this will make little difference, because it is much easier to follow the herd, but i will bite. I will also hope that your question was genuine and you will look at the links with an open mind and before being dismissive, see them from the point of view of someone questioning the safety of vaccines. As I have mentioned previously in this thread, I vaccinate my kids, but as a parent I think is ridiculous to do something without questioning why.

Now, you see the knee jerk reaction here to anyone that does not vaccinate? Imagine if you are a researcher what kind of flak will you get for a finding like that. Not to mention the drowning political and lobbying forces. However here are a few things for you:

  • This is the FDA label of the Pertussis vaccine, it lists SIDS and autism as reported side effects. The FDA and the label itself is telling you that. Are you supposed to ignore it? I understand the typical comeback is "Oh well they have to throw that there to protect yourself". No, you can't have it both ways, either it does not cause it, and you stand firmly behind it and deal with the consequences or admit that it does and let me weigh the risks. You can not just expect the parent to ignore that finding because you do not want to pay out.

  • Court decisions on Autism awarding millions to parents. Now the Vaccine court does not make its hearings public, so I an average Joe, will not have the ability to see what caused these findings. I am assuming someone more lawyered up and with more money than me, had sufficient data to prove to a court that they do cause autism. This is a court where the weight of proving damages is squarely on the parent, and where the link between vaccines and the effect must be proven. Take some time to read on Vaccine Court and you will realize this is no small finding.

  • Additional cases where government has conceded association between vaccines and autism

  • I could not find a direct link to this research, but this law firm points to a more recent study making a connection between vaccines and autism.

Now I am not invested enough in this matter to have dug sufficiently. I am sure if you spend more time, you could get more detailed info, however as a parent, you always want to keep your kid safe and do what's best. You can not expect a parent to ignore court cases and FDA warning simply because someone on reddit calls them a cunt or because you believe it wold make your kid safer if they got vaccinated. There is enough info out there to question this idea that vaccines are completely safe, so people should be left alone to make decisions that they believe are best for them without this herd mentality of immediately ostracizing them.
