In a somewhat similar spot at the moment, late twenties, always lived in Adelaide (North East - Paradise) but outside of school has been quiet as far as friends go. Started out career focused but keeping in touch outside of work wasn't something that happened a lot between staff in the companies I worked for.

Thought about trying Meetup and getting into some of the movie groups, maybe take the camera out to some film and photographic groups, and hope for the best. Otherwise quiz nights can be good too, been to a couple in recent times and had a blast, but it was usually with an already established group so it could be different wandering in solo.

I expect Meetup will be a mixed bag, with some groups being better managed than others, but it's worth a shot.
