Iranian activist, 20, jailed for 15 years for 'spreading prostitution by taking off her hijab'

I’m Muslim and know so many girls/women who wear it by choice and so many who don’t and aren’t shamed by the community, either. I’m Pakistani and have been to Pakistan a good couple of times, and I can ensure you that in predominantly Muslim countries it is also the same as in the west - the society there isn’t forcing or condemning of not covering your head. It’s truly meant to be worn by choice (even according to our religious scriptures), but of course, you are 100% right that they are being forced in Iran. The government has no business, even if they followed the actual theocracy correctly, to do what they are doing. I’m really upset that so many women are suffering in Iran, that the government there supports a hyper radicalized view of Islam, and that Islam is being painted in an even more negative light because of these corrupt leaderships... just all around a horrible situation and I wish other countries could/would intervene to help
