Apparently farming is the only way to experience “hard work”

Did hay all day once (but only once, so idk how useful my point is) as a favor for the neighbor ... mostly just collecting the bales out in the field, building a huge ass pile on the back of a little flatbed truck, and filling the barn by bucking it all by hand and it was very physically difficult but mentally it was a breeze... simple tasks with a lot of visual satisfaction because you literally see the field emptying and the barn filling and the anxiety releasing from the neighbor who was worried about rain the next day. I found it therapeutic actually as long as I had sunscreen and water and a couple of cold beers afterwards. Now I’m an emergency room nurse, which isn’t very physically challenging, but mentally it’s excruciating. On some of my worst nights in the ER, I’ve been so exhausted after a 12 hour shift of dealing with acute patients that I don’t even have the energy to drink a cold beer, nor feeling much satisfaction just because there wasn’t much improvement to witness. Point being, every job has capabilities of pushing someone over the edge in some way that all leads to some form of exhaustion
