Noticed people take breaks or have to increase their dosage amount.

Alright, so I’ve actually been around Kratom since the late 1990’s-early-2000’s, and I could fill volumes of paper with all the caveats — sourcing, what the product actually has in it, whether it’s pure, etc etc — but I’ll skip all of that. I like many, actually didn’t try it (despite being around it) until I needed it to avoid having to take dangerous stuff — I don’t want to go into too much detail but suffice it to say that I could literally never understand why anyone would want to or need to take more than 3-4gs at a time unless they were extremely large or had slow metabolism (at a time, not per day obviously). But all that being said, there was a good ten years where it was a necessity for me due to nerve damage caused by a tumor. After that finally healed from surgeries and treatments (during this entire time, I never once took an opiate or a narcotic, and I personally don’t get anything from smoking weed — no judgement against people who do, my body just doesn’t agree with it)... so anyway, I turned to this plant instead (also because it’s legal and I knew trusted sources) and also because my primary care physician continued to recommend that I stay the course with it due to the fact that they were impressed that I had never once needed a narcotic — but after the years had gone by, I stopped cold turkey with the Kratom pretty much just to see if my nerves had truly healed completely. I had loose stool for about a week. The other symptoms were minor and I used the advice given to me by the Malaysian family who first told me what Kratom was almost 25 years ago: I used small amounts of DXM (or if I couldn’t easily get simple DXM, just a normal dose of DayQuil Severe) a few times a day. By day 3, all symptoms were gone except for the loose stool. By day 6 or 7, the loose stool was gone. I never experienced any of the other symptoms I’ve seen people complain about and frankly, as someone with degrees in chemistry among other related fields — and as someone who has read the mass-spec and NMR spec reports on “gas station” and “head shop” products that are labeled “Kratom” /sarcasm/ — I sincerely think that the majority of these things people are experiencing come not from the plant itself: but from a complete lack of purity control and quality control: Both in the harvesting, processing, packaging, shipping, and then in the distribution chain. I think that if we could take NMR spectroscopy reports on the top 100 suppliers’ products and compare them against a freshly picked leaf, and a sun dried leaf that was freshly picked: it would probably demonstrate this. But anyway:

TL;DR — small amounts of DXM (the amount found in a standard dose of DayQuil Severe or up to twice that amount if it’s not accompanied with NSAID’s) was a trick I was always told and my own experience seems to validate that wisdom at least for myself.
