Apple Watch, are you getting one and why? (SERIOUS)

Better to try and judge everything on its merits than be an unapologetic fanboy of anything. :)

I also never wear a watch any more thanks to having a smart phone, and while having a naked wrist has its benefits, I miss it. On the face of things, I'm pretty clumsy so I would always scrape my watch against something - not so bad for a cheapie watch, but pretty ordinary for a fancy dress watch. Doing that with a phone constantly coming out of your pocket is even more cumbersome (needless to say, I use a case). Having said that, now that I wear a watch more rarely, I sometime even forget to get the dress watch on for formal occasions, which annoys me.

But more than that, I actually quite dislike the fact that I've developed smartphone neck. It's not good for posture, and also quite rude to others - I'd stop if I could, but quite frankly I'm too far gone. I also find the process of taking out a phone just to take the time or check a notification to be quite annoying. I have a Pebble (which I don't wear that much any more for other reasons) and simply being able to check my wrist for any notifications or the time was liberating.

I look forward to be able to keep my phone out of view now for many reasons, the above included. But also I look forward to be able to wear a watch again as a somewhat stylish accessory, which actually means a lot when you're not someone big on wearing fashionable accessories in the first place. But more than anything, I love playing with something new, shiny, and interesting - I find the watch interface (and its apps) just as interesting as I did the iPhone's multitouch, pinch-to-zoom, rubber-banding display eight years ago.

I love the Stainless Steel + Milanese Loop, but taking a guess at pricing, I'll probably just get the Sport + White. I actually can't wait to try the sport band, which is the same as the one on Marc Newson's Ikepod Hemipode - which is what Jony Ive has worn for years.
