Leonore - Brussels [Melancholic Indie Pop] (2015)

Somewhere in between her home town Brussels and the Scandinavian metropolis Stockholm, this band formed by Chloë Nols saw the light of day. Or the light of the moon, because the Swedish days tend to be short.

Leonore tells tales from the heart. Chloë’s heartbreaking voice plays a central part and is assisted by compagnon de route Bram Van der Stocken on bass and by Joren Cautaers (on drums), Jasmijn Lootens (on cello, guitar, vocals) and Michaël Verlinden (on keys, samples, vocals).

Chloë and Bram are in love with the North. During dark winters and sunny summers, the duo traveled to Stockholm for several recording sessions with producer Christian Edgren (Eagle-Eye Cherry, Stina Nordenstam). All the pieces of the puzzle fell into place and that resulted in melodic, intimate pop with a melancholic atmosphere over dark lyrics.

Chloë sings about the unparalleled secrets of the heart and feels inspired and intrigued by the dark side of human nature. The autobiographical onset is eagerly mixed with fictional stories or references to movies and literature. Although the songs often touch on dark and heavy themes, the band manages to bring them in a surprisingly accessible way.

Leonore is currently recording their debut album and is playing a couple of try-outs as a full band.
