They are always there for you :)

I spent six years working in a max sec prison. Every six months someone I worked with would kill themselves or otherwise die prematurely. Double that number in inmate deaths / serious injuries. On average I responded to a fight every night and an officer needs assistance once a week. I was assaulted one time by three inmates. Out of all the terrible things I saw there is one image I can’t forget. A 23 year old kid I worked with who took his own life one day. When I get stressed I see his face and suddenly I am back in prison. Before I got help, his eyes had turned into black voids and it was haunting me. I saw humanity at its worst and it almost destroyed me. I had to see a therapist because I couldn’t handle it on my own. I’ve come a long way since then. I feel like most people take way too much for granted.
