Just as there are women who prefer a female doctor, there are women who prefer a male doctor. They may be fewer in number but they exist.

Also, there are hundreds of reasons as a young med student to choose the field you want to go into. One reason to choose gyno instead of geriatrics or oncology is you are far less likely to have to see patients near death as a gyno. It's a less stressful field than others, and since it's a specialty you might have an easier time finding the right employment.

At the end of the day, your doctor is there to treat you with their decade+ of experience and knowledge; and as long as they can do that properly without error, it shouldn't matter what they look like. And it's going to be awkward when any stranger sticks a finger in you for a medical exam. You may prefer a familiar finger, but all you need is a knowledgeable one.
