Asking nanny not to wear makeup and fake nails? Okay or not?

Yes, really. Asking me to change how I look when it’s not harming you or your child at all is rude and unwarranted. And I’m very good at what I do and can have my pick of families. So yes, I’d quit.

And I’m not trying to be rude, but she absolutely did say she wants to ask the nanny not to wear makeup in her original post. There has not yet been an issue with the nanny leaving makeup on the child’s clothing, she’s just afraid there might be. Then later she said she might tell the nanny that she had left makeup on the child’s clothing in order to lead into asking her not to wear it, which is dishonest. Her nanny also wore makeup to the interview, which was the appropriate point to address the topic if it was a dealbreaker for OP.

I do agree with the nails bit, though. As someone else’s pointed out, nurses and some other professions are usually asked not to wear them for hygienic or safety reasons.
