I had a dream the other night that in an effort to understand covid-19 the general public were adamant scientists turn on an "atmosphere analyser". The skyscraper-sized spire worked by generating a void-like black ball of lightning that ate up some of the atmosphere as it worked.

And of course the public wanted it running at max so of course it got out of control. The ball lightning ballooned, the now missing atmosphere miles wide, sky black to space, with tree-trunk thick purple lightning arcing and slamming down, incinerating buildings and fleeing people below.

I was trying to escape, but all I could think was a world-weary "ffs 2020".

So. Maybe that?
