Bank Holding Me Accountable For Fraud

The Louis Vuitton bag was a joke. What happened was, an imposter called me, claimed to be a representative of my bank, said there were potentially fraudulent charges on my account (such as a purchase made at Louis Vuitton in another state) and said I need to get a new debit card. He asked for verification information, did the usually two-step verification code process that is protocol for my bank, etc. I didn't give him any super sensitive personal information. He just got enough to get in. When I found I was locked out of my account I called my bank to find that there were several transfers made to an external account totaling ~$5000 (I was not given a specific amount). They said they logged calls from my phone number at the time I was speaking with this fraudster (meaning he somehow rerouted my phone number to get access to my account I suppose?). My bank said this type of fraud happens to many customers and they would resolve it in a few days. They filed the fraud claim and I called several times throughout the week for updates, not being told much besides it's still under review. My bank locked me out of my account during this time. Today, I am told my fraud claim is denied because they believe I am responsible for the excessive charges. But my bank has a zero liability policy. The bank rep said they will not give me access to my account until I replenish the negative balance. Again, I was told it was $5,000. Yet, even if I were to be held accountable, they did not give me any instruction or resources as to how I would even pay this amount. I asked if I could have any evidence/documentation of these charges, such as a bank statement or detailed info about the account into which money was transferred, so I could include them in a police report. I was not given any additional info; the bank representative hung up. So essentially I feel like my account is being held ransom by my bank.
