No it's EXACTLY how it works.

We got better, but now I'm surrounded by high anxiety people
They basically wake up already muttering and getting angry about stuff, I can't even get my cup of coffee before my MIL is messaging me about how Trump is now Hitler.
And she can't relax, we can't even watch a movie or TV show without her suddenly going on a tangent about how 1984 is here, or how we need to move to Canada, she smokes cigarettes like a fiend and is just constantly freaking out.
Same with my coworkers, I can't even get 10 steps before one of my guys said "Did you hear what Trump said?" on most days.
I once did an experiment with my MIL, we went out to the lake, and she started talking Politics. I gave her a look and said "can we talk?"
I took her aside and I said "look, I came her to spend time with my MIL and my fiance, I did not come here to listen to talking points from the news. I want to enjoy our day together and GET AWAY from all the crap ok? Can we just not talk or even think about politics, and just focus on enjoying our time together? please?"
And she kinda grumbled and said "you're right."
A bit later she's building sandcastles on the beach, playing with the dogs, SMILING... Like within a half hour of telling her to just calm the fk down and BE PRESENT she was having fun.
It lasted about a week, which surprised us. We didn't get any calls, texts, or her showing up and ranting.
And then it started again, and I have to give her the talk again.
It's so frenetic and mentally ill esque, like it reminds me of when I worked with a guy that had Bipolarity. We'll be talking about like dinner, and suddenly her eyes change, her tone changes, and she'll say like "Donald Trump doesn't deserve food!" and then right back to eating. It's fkn weird.
It reminds me, to a T, of my own parents when clinton was in office.
That dude would like say "Good morning America! We have a lot of work head of us."
And they'd be running around all day going "Did you hear what he JUST SAID?! He's going to kill us ALL!!! He's a threat to America!!!" etc etc
