Being depressed about being ugly is perfectly rational and logical, and people who tell you to “just get over it, get a hobby” don’t understand how deeply ugliness permeates throughout your life experience

I don't completely disagree with the OP, but this is absurd. Would you really trade your current life for that of a woman in Saudi Arabia, where even if you are astonishingly beautiful, it doesn't matter because society will never see it, and you have zero agency over your own life choices. Would you really trade your current life to be an attractive impoverished citizen of a war-torn country? Would you really trade your current life for that of an attractive citizen of North Korea? Would you trade your life of an attractive neolithic, doomed to die of sepsis at age 25 due to an aquatic foot injury? Nationality and year of birth confer overwhelmingly greater privilege than physical attractiveness. It totally sucks to be unattractive, and I think it's fine to be sad about it, but at least you are born in an era of technology and (probably) live in a democracy.
