Besides the obvious luxuries of fast cars, mansions, & beach houses, what do you fantasize about when you imagine being super rich?

I feel like I'm being a downer by saying this but,

If when you are rich and you buy fancy cars and shit like that, that money is essentially being wasted. It won't help anyone. When people complain about rich people, they usually complain about them hoarding wealth, but if that money is being invested, its very useful.

But what is not useful is buying crap like yachts, all of the resources and labour that went in to that yacht was specifically for you, and it was spend specifically on you. All of those materials and labour could have been spent on building someone a house.

Warren Buffet likes to call his private jet the 'indefensible' because he understands that luxuries like that take away from people who need things. But I don't think he feels as bad about all the money he has that could be used to help people. Because If he spent it to help people, he couldn't use it to make more money which he then could help people with.

So my point is that fancy crap like sports cars is a waste of resources. The majority of people who dream about being rich dream about buying fancy shit. What I can tell from this is that if some of these people got rich, they would end up being the rich people who spend all the money on themselves or on politicians like the Walmart owners or Koch brothers.

So it does not surprise me that most rich people dont like paying taxes etc because the majority of people wouldnt want to pay taxes either. The rich people who donate are generous people who would be generous regardless of being rich.

If I was rich, I wouldnt want a bunch of crap. I wouldnt donate it all, but would probably invest it. I would keep a budget of what quantity of my income I would donate, and then during the year I would decide where this money goes.

You don`t need sports cars, but most people want them. Therefore it make sense that most people if they were rich would be the rich assholes people like to hate.
