THE BEST GAMERS on Twitter: "rumor has it that mario will be a female in the next game. this rumor is based on nothing but i'm starting it now & it better happen or else."

Stupid point.

The general consensus in this thread is more alike what I will say here: I have played Mario games since I was six years old. Changing an iconic character's sex is stupid because it is absolutely pointless, and screams nothing more than "we're pandering to people who use arguments like 'it's 2016 so it's about time for a female Mario.'"

I would equally oppose Princess Peach being made into a man, by the way. Just as I wouldn't want to see Yoshi become a male or female dinosaur because all Yoshis are asexual.

The reason why people like you want to make Mario a woman is because it makes you feel empowered to scream loudly enough through your hugboxes to have an actual effect on the real world. Your entire social crusade is borne from the constant need for validation for your beliefs, whether it come in the form of pats on the back for your friends for remembering their made-up pronouns, or getting public recognition for saying inane shit like "Mario should be a woman!" You simply do not have a good reason for them to change Mario's sex. We on the other hand have a great reason why they shouldn't make Mario a woman: because Mario is a male character, and has been for the past 20 years. Oh and we won't buy their game if they treat us like idiots by pandering to people like you.

In any case, last I check Nintendo was a Japanese company, so good luck pushing social justice onto them. There are plenty of great female characters in games already, and if you think there should be more, go make your own games. A good first step would be to give up on your gender studies degree and go into something that will actually make a difference.
