Biweekly ERAS/Match Thread

Similar situation. I will not be the only minority, but almost, at a top program. Yes, they did choose you IN PART for being a minority, but also keep in mind that your minority status is of great value to residencies and hospitals as you will be able to both provide more culturally competent care yourself, and will be able to teach, directly or indirectly, to the non-minorities in your program to appropriately take care of patients. Impostor syndrome is a real thing, and much more common in minorities (trust me, I've been there countless times). Look for additional support in the university or outside (e.g. NHMA for Hispanic/Latinos or NMA for African Americans). And know that you are where you deserve to be. You deserve to be in at this great program, you will be a first year intern and everyone will have their ups and down. But you will overcome, succeed and be a great physician. Best of luck!!
