Class drama bc of doctor parents awarding diplomas to their children

That makes a lot of sense, I didn’t know that was the tradition. It makes sense.

Maybe I’m being a little shallow, but I just want a physician to hood me, MD or DO. IDGAF if it is even the parent physician of one of my classmates. Not a single person in my family would have the capability due to not achieving such degrees.

I know we have faculty who are PhD and they participated in white coat, but I think a physician has a deeper understanding of the medical school journey than a PhD and should be the one to hood at graduation. Becoming a physician is becoming part of a special family that is inherently exclusive because while I feel anyone could be become a physician, there are very few that are willing to go through everything. We have sacrificed since we were in undergrad (foregoing parties and social gatherings to study) all the way through medical school (insert all of the bullshit involved in medical education).

Not saying a PhD didn’t work hard because they certainly did, and know wayyyyyyyyyyy more about their specialized knowledge than I could ever sniff at. It’s same same, but different, but still same same. But still different. Added aside, I’d be pissed if a lawyer hooded me lol.
