I’ve leant exes money when I was young and naive and it was nowhere near 50k!

like one ex I leant $500 when I was 19. I had worked since I was a teen so I had a Savings account.

He never paid me back. Not only that, he cheated on me repeatedly.

Second ex I leant money to was when I was 22. Same situation. Never paid me back and cheated on me.

If someone needs my emotional support I will always be there for them, but when it comes to finances, I now believe that unfortunately sharing them can cause a partner to take one for granted.

You have only been with your bf for 5 months so I strongly urge you to not give him a dime and since you updated your post I believe you are on the same page. You should consider breaking it off with him because he stressed you out over something he made you feel he “deserved” which is abusive behavior. Don’t be dumb like how I was even though what I had leant was chump change in comparison lol
