Why are internet bike bros so insecure? I struggle to put it into words because I just woke up but a bike is neither a car nor is it my legs and no matter how much you try and push it bikes will not overtake my car or legs in doing transportation. The only advantage bikes have over cars is that they're more human conscious, which is good, but it's not really a selling point to me because if it's close enough to bike to I have legs which can just walk there and are even more human conscious than bikes.

I personally prefer walking infrastructure + public transport + a good road network over excessive bike investments. Ideally I'd be able to walk within my local area for most things I need in around 20 minutes which I can, if I need more I can walk ~5-10 minutes to catch a train or tram to the CBD which has everything else which I can, and if I want or need to drive somewhere outsdie of that I can. Imo this is the ultimate way as it truly does give me freedom. And it's not like bikes can't fit in here as with all the pedestrian infrastructure you can bike into the CBD if really want to. But that's how things already are where I live. I know my city is well designed but bike bros on the internet seem more to want a bike version of current car centric infrastructure over actual good city planning.
