Want to build a new PC for Dota? Not satisfied with your current performance and want to upgrade? As a frequent poster at r/buildapc and general pc building enthusiast, I'd love to help you make your dream Dota PC!

You need an aftermarket cpu cooler with the i5-4690k, even if you're not planning to oc right away because there is a backplate mount that goes behind the motherboard - you'll have to uproot the entire pc if you want to install it later.

Is there any specific reason you want to go for the gaming 5? Both the z97s-sli krait and the z97 gaming 5 will support crossfire and some very nice overclocks, I personally have the gaming 5 in my built at the moment, but I'm not sure you need it. Get the i5-4690k/z97s-sli krait bundle for $280:

The Asus DirectCU II cooler was not made for AMD cards.

AMD chips are physically smaller than Nvidia chips, which is why a DirectCU II cooler taken off of a AMD card looks like this:

The white part is where the AMD chip was. The heatplate is simply too large for it.

Hence the DirectCU II cooler does its job fine. But only merely fine. Its not a good or a great cooler and shouldn't be considered.

r9 290 Cooler tier list: (tier 1 and tier 1.5 are just my humble opinion, but tier 3 and 4 are objectively correct) Tier 1(best): Vapour-X, PCS+, Tri-X, Windforce Tier 1.5(still great):Twin Frozr, Double Dissipation, IceQ x2 Tier 3(still ok): DirectCU II, Turboduo Tier 4(garbage): reference

Get the PCS+ for $260 instead.

The B2 is significantly higher quality than the Corsair CX PSU:

That Asus VN248h-p doesn't have a great IPS panel. Go with the one I selected for a slimmer bezel that will look much better. Get a DVI cable and connect directly to your r9 290.

The 200r isn't a great case at all. Get the 300r instead for much better temps, airflow, build quality.
