Caitlin Clark got praised on an ESPN segment for her attitude, energizing her team and not being afraid to get in the faces of her opponents. Talking smack, essentially. But then Reese did some similar stuff (one move exactly the same) and people said it was classless. So then it became a whole thing, and some even think it’s racist (I don’t know enough to know if the people at ESPN condemned Reese’s actions or if it was just people online making connections that weren’t there).

One way or another, it’s not a good look when—as a society at large—a white athlete gets praise while a black athlete gets called unsportsmanlike for the same behavior. And in this case, Reese seemed to only do it as a response to Clark’s behavior, making the unequal responses even more conspicuous.
