Cashiers of Reddit, what are some crazy customer stories do you have?

My second week on the job. Christmas season. I was one of four new hires so it was pure madness as we all bumbled our way through our jobs as best as possible during an ongoing rush.

This woman comes through the line with a coupon, hands it to me. I scan it, it says it's already been used, so I hand it back. She acts surprised, then goes to dig in her purse for another coupon. Hands me one.

This is the exact same coupon, I recall the number, it was very distinct.

I humor her, scan it again. Says it has been used. She insists it has not, no one else could have used it and she certainly hasn't used it! She's clearly going to make a fuss. I don't have the authority to do anything about it so I call over a manager, which is fantastic, because it's not like they're busy or anything.

She decides to pass the coupon through because we're just too damn busy to fight over a few dollars.

Then the woman says she has another transaction. She puts a few more items on the counter and hands me the same coupon she just handed me for the last transaction*. I couldn't tell if the woman was drunk out of her mind or just a lunatic.

I scan the coupon because I know I can't just tell her it won't be accepted, I have to show her. Of course, the register declines the coupon, says it has been used. She insists again that it has not. I tell her that it appeared to be the same coupon she had just used. She flies off the handle.

I call the manager back over and the woman proceeds to say that we should give her the discount because she buys enough stuff at our store that it shouldn't matter. My manager explains that a lot of people buy a lot of stuff there; that doesn't change the fact that it's a one use coupon. She continues to rant about how she spends so much money at our store (I don't think she did), it shouldn't matter, she could get better service elsewhere. She huffs, "Maybe I should take my business elsewhere!" My manager simply responds, "If you feel that would be best, that is entirely your choice."

The woman walks off, leaves her stuff at the counter.
