They own even MORE now. Time Warner (Warner) owns DC Comics.
And Disney and Viacom own almost every big Youtube channel too. It's insane. Any channel or youtuber with a decent amount of subscribers are owned by a company owned by another company owned by Disney, Viacom or the other few.
Everyone says it's not influencing any of the youtubers and that it's crazy, but all of them have more or less said their contracts prohibit them from heavily critizing Disney or other youtubers. That's why you stopped seeing Game Grumps, PewDiePie etc. play and make fun of Disney games. Game Grumps had to come out and specifically say they ARE allowed to make fun, but not "too much" or to make it malicious (so only friendly jabs, not honest rants or criticisms). I think GG recently signed off from the network owned by Disney but I'm not sure. But they were incredibly restrictive and TotalBiscuit also tried his best to not have anything to do with them while working for them.
It's creepy. Really creepy. At the same time (while they aquired those networks and channels), all the other big Youtube networks not owned by the Big 6 started being WIDELY blasted in the media, and they all lost a shit ton of subscribers and had all kinds of bad rumors about their contracts etc. leaking out. And after the aquisitions the networks got a ton of subscribers and now have tons of promotional events and specials about Disney products. JonTron etc. were paid money for the StarCade specials about Star Wars (owned by Disney who also owns JonTron) etc. and that was when his show and humor started getting really weird and forced. Now his videos look and feel like they are really expensive and take ages to come out and have really disturbing shit in them ("fetus corpse rape satan blood vomit" would not be out of place and happens in every video out of nowhere) for no reason other than randomness.
