Casual racism against asian (oriental people)

How old are you?

I'm 24 and also a BBC. The first racist insults I got started back in primary school. I grew up in predominately white working-class neighbourhoods in the Black Country and would nearly be subject to it daily. I've gotten racist taunts from whites (of course, it's the UK), blacks and also South Asians. I grew out of these taunts in the end and it doesn't phase me anymore when it happens (and it hasn't recently); it really did lead me having to develop tougher skin, both mentally and physically, especially as a lot of people don't take East Asian men seriously, whether that's in the workplace, politics, social life, etc. Funnily enough, the toughest bullying incidents which had a lasting impact on me psychologically were people who just targeted my appearance in general when I was a acne-riden emo teenager and physically and emotionally threatened me for no apparent reason, but that's another story.

Racism against East Asians is definitely excused by the general public and imo even somewhat promoted sometimes - but this is greater in the US right now. In the UK it's generally died down due to the increasing focus on Muslims over the past decade. Media representation of East Asians is also a joke as well. It's all very multifaceted imo.

Honestly you just have to start calling people out when people are trying to bullshit you, as long as they don't have a knife or acid. You will be surprised at how fragile some of the egos on people really are.
