[Censorship] A non-profit group behind a heartwarming Father’s Day ad pulled from TV for being too “political” in the lead-up to the same-sex marriage postal vote has taken its website and social media pages down for “security reasons”.

Private citizens don't award rights, the government does. Those people can do whatever they like, I don't care. What I want is legal protections that are at parity with those enjoyed by straight people under the same circumstances.

And you feel these laws are denied to you?

Let's say someone assaults you for being gay. You're telling me the police are going to somehow use your sexual orientation against you in order to wave their responsibilities away in applying the law equally?

I pay the same taxes to fund rights you get and I do not

Oh and what sorts of rights am I automatically granted as opposed to you?

You're sounding really petty at this point.

Would you appreciate being barred from the hospital room of your partner? How about not being able to go to their funeral? How about having your house sold out from under you? Or perhaps your kids taken away because they're not biologically related?

While this may have been true in the past, things have advanced so much that people are very well aware of Gay people and can move past sexual orientation in order to treat them like any individual.

Granted, there might be some who hold on to their ways but guess what? You also have the law on your side. You can file descrimination suits. You can scream at the top of your lungs and call people intolerant when they bar you from events and you know what? You WILL generate sympathy and empathy enough to have those people denounced in no time.

There are always stories about families that disown their gay children and then swoop in to raid the estate when the person dies.

Just like many other stories related to discrimination that occur too. Difference is, you've got a sizeable contingent of people on your side. Why don't you use it instead of holding on to that "Second Class Citizen" label in a time when anyone who is suspected of homophobia is socially ostracized and their careers ruined.
