Charge blade is fun

Not sure if you're still pursuing CB but I started MHW about 2 weeks ago and mained it through most of iceborne (I'm like 80 percent through).

There's a great website called mhchargeblade.net which breaks down everything from basics to advanced tech. It also just teaches a lot about the game in general. If you just want starter tips I would suggest equipping guard 1 (always) and focus 3 as it gives you better charge combos and to generally not complicate things.

Charge phials with sword attacks, charge shield with those phials, then the rest of your phials can go towards discharges or axe mode attacks. Always aim to reach orange charge levels before loading them from empty.

Your bread and butter phial generation comes from charge slash and shield thrust. There's more nuance here but you can start by spamming these together to build phials.

There's only 2 frequently used guard points in morph-to-axe and roundslash. The former is basically frame 1 so you should use it before an attack hits you instead of blocking.
