Rant: Chinese voices disregarded in a fandom for a CHINESE franchise

I actually started doing a Twilight rewrite in the franchise's heyday and, as a teenager, I realised that I didn't know enough about Quileute culture to actually write it at all. I wanted to include more mythical creatures from the culture, but I couldn't find anything online (keep in mind this was like 07/08, so Google wasn't as robust as it is now).

Google has gotten waaaay better. In fact, with my own Twulight fic, I was able to use the Quileute Nation's own website, where they told their own origin story in their own way, and also talked about "spiritual" history and real history from their perspective. It was really amazing, and I built that part of my world entirely around their legends - which actually do state them being descended from wolves, interestingly enough. She did get that part right, at least, though the rest of the execution.... well... it's obviously less than ideal. I could go on forever about all the stuff I found (children's books, the alphabet, other lifestyle stuff - historical and present day, etc.).

Point being, then Google offers that much info, it's not that hard to search for basics, or at least acknowledge it in some fashion, even if simplified or substituted for something else. But I also think it is pointless to talk to other people via concrit unless specifically asked for.
