First of all I would like to live in a country where people are held accountable for things they have done and not possibly could do in the future. Our laws and rules condemn guilty and protect those innocent. You are condemning or demonizing people for something they have not done yet simply because they have a larger chance of being part of something that could cause harm, then those fully vaxxed . None vaxxed is NOT the same as infected. If you hold people responsible for giving others infection then fully-vaccinated that chose to go to crowded restaurants and sport events are also willingly a part of the same "crime" you accuse unvaxxed off. Or do somehow those fully vaccinated getting others infected that end up in a hospital excused by default. IS it about who's at bigger fault or about actually stopping the spread of the virus.
While I don't believe we can force people to do anything they don't want (ie get vaxed), we can do everything to make sure we keep them and everyone else safe. This means barring them from non essential places where they could contract the virus from.
Saving people from themselves, that is the most ridiculous direction any society could go into. If that is what you want then we should go into a total lockdown for everyone to safe fully vaxxed from themselves that pretend they are unable to get sick and spread the disease to others, by insisting they have the right and freedoms to get together regardless of what data suggests about breakthrough infections and outbreaks. We have places in US like univeristy campuses with over 95% vaccine rates for both staff and students that are going through outbreaks right now. This dream of ending the pandemic through vaccination only is just that a dream.
From the beginning I've believed the solution forward needs to be a carrots and sticks model. Provide more normality to those who are vaxed and take away that normality to the unvaxed. The longer this goes the more we will see holdouts get the Vax so they can live a normal (and safe) life!
Your idea of safety is not the same as someone else's idea of safety. I like to rock climb, jump out of the airplanes, play high impact sports, drive race cars and take recreational drugs. You might like to sit at home and watch Netflix in a comfort of your home. And then there is millions of people that chose everything in between and consider it safe for them. WHO DECIDES what safety is for everyone and what you and me need to give up to realize that definition. Maybe the idea of safety from the anti-vaxxed crowd is to ban all vaccinations and access to them, I bet you would not like someone telling you what to do with your choices.
I think the next thing we should do is follow the US lead and make large businesses require their staff is vaxed or require the unvaxed to be tested twice a week. Seems fair and keeps everyone safe!
The biggest MISTAKE of this whole pandemic in every country was betting it all on vaccination success. While we take our time to fight and argue, police people with violence for not wearing mask since its for their own good, threaten people with job loss and fines, people continue dying because we totally failed the other side of the approach which is treatment. If we put as much effort and money into treatment options, as we did into vaccination efforts we would have protected people from dying and solved the ICU capacity problem long time ago.
How many billions of funding have been thrown by the governments towards find a treatment option. The answer is a tiny fraction of the funding that went to the vaccines. There were promising treatments from Israel about locally administered anti-inflammatories directly into the lungs, there was also a spray that was clearing infection from nose and through of patients 11 months ago. WHERE THE FUCK ARE ALL THE TREATMENTS or CLINICAL TRIALS for all the hundreds of anti-viral medicine we already have in use. They don't need FDA or Health Canada approvals, they are already authorized medication for other conditions. Are you telling me that not a single one works for Covid and the only way is years of research to come up with a "NEW" drug that can be patented and profit from.
I CALL THAT BS. There is profit over lives going on here and it has been since the pandemic started. There is more efforts and funding going into disproving any promising treatments then there is into finding one and that is the sad truth of this whole mess.
