JFC, that dislodged a memory..

Was in grad school and a buddy of mine convinced me to go to ballroom dancing lessons at the school. Didn't quite understand his angle at the time, but I went. I walked in and holy crap, totes understood now. It was like 4-1 ratio of girls to guys there.

So, I'm like in lockdown mode, thinking "okay, just don't break anyone's ankles, don't slam into someone around me... i'll be fine." because I don't know how to fucking dance and it was a large group of like 40 people or so in the room, so instruction was... vague... at best.

They pass the guys to give all the women a turn with dancing with a guy (yeah really) and get matched with this really cute girl. Of course, I'm in lockdown mode, no small talk, no nothing... just concentrating on not plowing into anyone. At the end of our 2-3 minute session...

her: "aww, and just when I get a good partner!"

me, motherfucking Cassanova: "yeah......" voice trails off, walks off to next partner

20 minutes later, it dawns on me. I still cringe about that moment.
