[DA:I] My favorite Cole quote...

I can understand that, and while to be honest I think this particular 'example' is overreaching,

I agree too. My anger wasn't due to the content of the game as much to the dismissal of even the tiniest bit of criticism and the idea that somehow Bioware had racked up enough "points" that if they so wished it, they could be lazy and insulting without being met with criticism. (Then it somehow escalated to me being pro-censorship) .

You're not going to change anyone's mind like that, though.

I've tried before, and sometimes the only way I can react to defense of racism, sexism, or general ignorance is through anger. I'm not going to be level headed when confronted with that kind of thing, because I do experience it in its full intensity in real life. If you did, or if you do too, you'd know I nor anyone else who's offended is somehow supposed to assume the role of an educator and try to convert people. Sometimes anger's the only response, and I'm not looking to be validated for it.

And honestly, this kind of attitude is half the reason social justice has such a bad name on the internet. Yeah, the various conservative hate mongers are awful, but as with anything they're a vocal minority of the population. Most of the people sit somewhere in the middle, and they see misogynists et. al trolling and bullying and turning innocent threads toxic... and then turn around and see supposed social justice advocates doing exactly the same shit.

I just can't buy that. While SJWs can get a bit too easily offended, I'd rather take their decide when I know they're actively working to make the world a better place. Even if they're misguided or too easy to blow up in anger, at least it's from a better place.

That's one big reason why even though I'm involved in social justice organisations in real life, I can't stand social justice communities on the internet. They're just too concerned with tribalism, with ingroup versus outgroup, with creating outrage simply for the catharsis of being 'right' rather than trying to actually produce change for the better.

The reddit community always makes these claims, as if the only thing they've ever witness is the parody account submissions from TumblrInAction. I'm not going to agree with these generalizations unless I actually see them happen.
