DAE have a really good memory, but down play it a little because some people find it creepy?

Ugh, you're describing my marriage! I developed perniscious anemia in my 40s, meaning my B12 is critically low all the time and I have to take my shots every week to battle against it. I'm a nurse, I'm trying to be compliant, I'm super busy and just a really bad patient. Low B12 means foggy memory and exhaustion, I know my day to day, I'm very good at what I do, I'm even a teacher, but don't ask me what I wore to work yesterday, even though it's the same scrubs, lol... remembering details can get foggy for me, I hate it, and I have developed a regime of calendars and apps to keep me on point! My wife has diagnosed Asberger's dating back to 1984, she remembers EVERYTHING. She is the stability in our home, our kids know that she ALWAYS knows exactly who has what going on every day: teachers, classes, dental appointments, tests, everyone's names, etc...and in the past, our teenagers have totally tried to use it against me (jeez, mom, I TOLD you that one thing that would totally keep me from being grounded, BUT YOU APPARENTLY DON'T REMEMBER), but SHE always defended me with her infallible memory, so, we keep a calendar with all our names on it, and a day to day record of who's doing what. My wife, though? Even without me being impressed because my foggy brain vs. her weirdo autism? (It's a joke, people, all in good fun, we're adults here and I know she's awesome), She has this amazing memory for detail, combined with total honesty, that helps us make a whole outta two halves... Seriously, NO ONE WANTS TO REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT WAS SAID, INCLUDING ALL THEIR NON-VERBAL CUES THAT YOU LEARNED FROM 12 YEARS OF THERAPY, JONNA... SOMETIMES WE ALL JUST WANT TO SAY IT'S GONNA BE OKAY, AND HUG IT OUT!!!! Honestly....I have known, and loved, this woman since I was 13 and she was 12. She has come a long way. She has worked hard, over the past 35 years, to understand how she can be a 'better' human (not that she's not totally awesome the way she is), fitting in to society and family, in the way she wanted to. And this from a time, the 1980s on, when it wasn't 'understood', outside of movies like 'Rainman', which showcased one end of the spectrum. Kids love her. Our kids, our grandchildren, other kids... No detail escapes her notice! They did something new, as a 7 month old! They started reading! They are learning to share! They pitched faster during a game! She sees EVERYTHING, and praises them!! Just normal growing up shit, the stuff I get weepy over when it's obvious? Well, she's already done FaceTime vids to praise them!! She is...sometimes hard to live with. Just because it can be exhausting, living with a super hero (she has the power to see and remember EVERYTHING, lol). But it's also amazing, and awesome, to be a part of her awareness, and see the world through her point of view. Our kids are freakishly in tune with what's going on around them (and no, they are not autistic in any way.. we are a same sex couple. I gave birth to all our children, with a very regular, nice guy), and they have developed little antennas that pick up, intuitively, those things that she sees and remembers and lives every day. They are totally on point with her life views... I'm in a fog that they just shrug off (oh yeah, softball practice, hey, throw your crap in the car, I'm texting your coach RIGHT NOW and LET'S GO!!!). At work, she remembers every detail about every patient she sees, (she's a veterinarian) names, family, etc, and they totally ADORE her. She can tell me the dates of every time her receptionist has called in sick, every date our kids will have a game, and every bill that is due, including account numbers and amounts. I only know that stuff if I look it up on the apps. Basically...a freakish memory can be a blessing or a curse. For my wife? She can lay awake at night, with a dozen 'unchecked boxes' spinning around in her brain. That's where I come in. I will never be able to rise to her never of competency, but by utilizing apps and calendars, I somehow manage to kinda keep up, and she just fills in any blanks, so that all the boxes are checked off, every day <3
