Who want to hear a crazy story? A few months ago I applied to a big 4 company. A few days after I applied, someone I used to date messaged me after years of not talking and it turns out that this person currently works at the company and was asked internally to provide a reference for me (we went to the same school). I have no idea how this company knew that we knew each other - my best guess is they parsed my resume and saw that I went to the same school at the same time as this other person who works for them. Anyway, I got super creeped out and ended up telling the company that now was not a good time for me to make a move and we should revisit it at a later date.
