On the basis that the cover-up is worse than the crime, if stories like this https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/partygate-phones-clean-up-investigation-sue-gray-b1991055.html are true, and if there's proof of it (which I wouldn't be surprised by given how the whole team there unlikely are super skilled at Opsec and phone wiping) then more serious charges could come into play.
Would be quite delightful if a load of them had wiped phones/WhatsApp's only then to be caught because one person hadn't who was on their amusing party chat.
