Dakota Access Pipeline Company Attacks Protesters with Dogs & Pepper Spray

It wasn't good reporting at all.

The Democracy Now! video is entitled "Dakota Access Pipeline Company Attacks Native American Protesters with Dogs and Pepper Spray" and the title of an earlier version refers to "Native Americans, including children, mauled by dogs". I watched the entire video. No injured children, just one adult who had a minor cut that most people wouldn't have put a bandaid on. No child was mauled, and I didn't see any injured in any way. It was just fabricated.

The video, which Democracy Now! characterizes as showing an unprovoked attack on Native Americans with pepper gas and dogs, doesn't really show that at all. It starts with protestors crossing a fence, and quickly moves to a scene in which protestors armed with clubs are pushing back outnumbered security guards. One protester jabs a dog, which had its back turned and was not engaged with the protesters in any way, in the back with a pole. A second protester throws a rock at the head of a security guard at close range.

The next scene shows protesters on horseback charging security guards who are unmounted.

The following scene shows the security guards being driven back to the parking lot. At this point, the only documented example of a dog being set on a protester occurs. From my pov, its not hard to see why this happened. The security guards have been retreating under the pressure of a superior force armed with clubs from the beginning of the video, and if they become separated from their cars, their ability to escape is threatened. Its hard to outrun guys on horseback.

The final scene shows the security guards getting their cars and peacefully driving away. A protester picks and and throws a rock at them as they depart.

I'm going to get 100 downvotes for this, but I'd urge you to actually view the video and to try to do so with an open mind. Democracy Now! didn't report here. They just created agitprop.
