Death Stranding ( Hideo Kojima ) - Game Awards 2016 Trailer

So you've got a guy with a baby in a tube. It's pretty clear that this baby in a tube is valuable, because the guy is trying to keep it hidden from the people with tanks. Could be that there is something special about that baby in particular, could that babies in general are now just very valuable. If the former, it's almost guaranteed that the baby contains DNA that resists some element of the setting; if the latter, you've obviously either got a Children of Men type deal where human reproduction is failed/failing, or just a situation where the overall population has been eradicated to the extent that a single baby holds a lot of value. Considering that it's in a tube, and it's surrounded by this mysterious black liquid that can easily be assumed to be a contagion of some sort, I'm definitely leaning towards the baby representing an "untainted specimen" of humanity that needs to be protected, by the tube, while in transit.

The man holding the tube doesn't seem to be particularly concerned that the black contagion is rising up around his feet. That means either it is not actually a contagion and has no effect on people (unlikely), that the man is naturally immune to the contagion without any protective gear (unlikely), or that the man has already been exposed to it and its effects are slow-acting (likely).

Then, you've got the villain reveal. Not a lot to be confused about there; he's a villain. There are a few details to be confused about, such as why his night-vision goggles magically disappear when he puts them up, but that is pretty minor stuff. The main thing to pick up on is that he is (implied to be) searching for this man and his baby-in-a-tube, and he's got high-tech military gear and well-trained soldiers (that are also possibly zombies) to do it with.

So, broad strokes: you know the setting (human rebellion in a post-apocalyptic wasteland), you've got a villain (Mikkelsen), you've got a McGuffin (baby in a tube), and you've got a general narrative motion (get baby-in-a-tube to people who can do something useful with it, without getting caught by villain). You can assume that there will be some FPS shooter elements, since the villain's special forces are armed with guns. Probably a heavy dose of sneaking/covert agent type stuff thrown in.

The only things that are really perplexing are how/why the villain seems to have access to 'magic', and why the tanks have squids falling off them. I imagine those questions will be answered in due time.
