Deficit of "eligible" men: educated women refuse to consider lower status men

The jobs that have been disappearing, like machine operator, are predominantly those that men do.

I take issue with this statement, because it's inaccurate, but I agree with the article to an extent.

Men need to stop chasing the same jobs and do a bit of research, perhaps be a little more intelligent with their chosen fields. I work in a field that pays $30 to $50 an hour (that's the average for an outage btw) with more pay going to PLC inclined or people with an engineering degree.

It's not that men have less career options overall, I highly disagree with that. It's more that while some career fields are slowing down they are being replaced by others, that are highly automation resistant, if you're disciplined enough to study on your own time.

When I was a biogas site operator I hired at least 5, maybe 7, guys to work as my assistant and eventually take my place. None of those dudes had the work ethic to survive.

Maybe the issue is a lack of work ethic. I know that statically speaking workers are far more productive than they have ever been with pay on the decline, but if you're willing to go the extra mile (IN THE RIGHT FIELD, this doesn't apply to dead end jobs) you can get employment. My field is DYING to hire experienced techs, if you have no experience it only takes a 2 year degree to break into a jr tech position @ $15-$20 an hour.
